Position Summary:

The Production Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing wave planning and releasing of outbound direct-to-consumer orders to meet established SLAs.  He/She is accountable for resolution of issues that delay or prevent customer orders from shipping on time.  The Production Planning Manager analyzes root cause failures and reports as necessary.  He/She also communicates regularly with Ops managers, supervisors, team leads, and material handlers regarding outbound orders, re-slotting, and improving picking, packing, and shipping KPIs.  

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Plan and release all outbound orders as needed to meet established SLA’s for direct to consumer operations
  • Daily communication with all areas of operations on issues that impact efficient flow of orders shipping same day
  • Analyze all order discrepancies and collaborate with other areas in operations for timely resolution to meet customer expectations for orders, including expedited and specialty merchandise
  • Communicate any systemic problems immediately to appropriate parties to ensure timely resolution
  • Anticipate and respond to sudden spikes in order volume or other variations in demand flow as a proactive measure so preparations can be made to adjust labor accordingly
  • Plans for and responds to demand related to peak periods, including ramp-up, capacity considerations, etc.
  • Coordinates movement of product for unique events proactively based on sales promotion, operational events (Return to vendor, Mark out of Stock etc.)
  • Works to scale labor and performance standards with available technology, fulfillment capacity, and unique labor tasks
  • goals are met or exceeded
  • Responsible for performance across multiple flexible shifts
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelors degree and/or 6 or more years of applicable experience in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Organizational Planning, Operations Management
  • Experience creating and implementing schedules, managing a diverse team of hourly associates
  • Experience in the retail, warehousing, 3rd party logistics, manufacturing, or procurement industries


  • 8 or more years of applicable experience
  • Masters degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Organizational Planning, Operations Management
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • Experience with Manhattan Systems and software 
  • Experienced planning in large facilities (>500k sq ft)
