Position Summary:

The Store Delivery Lead Associate is a key member of the shipping team and is responsible for multiple functions related to outbound freight (sorting and loading merchandise cartons, coordinating outbound shipments and ensuring manifest accuracy, etc.) within a fast-paced environment.  The Store Delivery Lead Associate assists the Shipping Supervisor and Store Delivery Manager with optimizing the flow and productivity of the department, and generally sets the standard for other hourly Shipping Associates, both employed by Belk and by temporary staffing providers.


Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Remove cartons from conveyors and organize (collect, stack, and/or palletize) by destination location.
  • Load cartons, containers, and/or palletized freight on to trucks for delivery.
  • Drive manifest accuracy by ensuring cartons are loaded on the proper trailer(s) and that all outgoing freight is recorded correctly on applicable paperwork
  • Audit cartons to ensure loads manifested for delivery to stores are correct; research and make adjustments to manifests as necessary.
  • Collect, organize, and distribute non-conveyable items to store load staging areas.
  • Monitor conveyors and fluid load equipment for proper functionality and to ensure carton flow is optimized.
  • Assist in coordinating trailer flow at shipping doors to ensure high levels of productivity and efficiency.
  • Maintain high quality and productivity standards in the receiving department by providing support, training and motivation to shipping associates, both working for Belk and those employed by temporary staffing agencies
  • Follow all established facility safety and security standards; set the example for other Shipping Associates.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment; ensure all equipment is in working order.
  • Support flexible work shifts as dictated by changing business needs.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • 2 or more years of applicable experience in Outbound/Shipping, supervising employees tasked with basic production/operational duties
  • Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Parcel, or Delivery
  • Effective time management in order to meet dynamic goals and deadlines
  • Ability to read and understand policies/procedures and communicate them to employees
  • Operate handheld scanner and associated equipment
  • Operate specialized computer hardware and software including (but not limited to) Warehouse Management Systems, Item Database, Yard Management System, etc.
  • Ability to be certified in forklift, motorized pallet jack, and cardboard baler use
